Sports Recap 10/16-10/20

The varsity football team took home a win at last Friday’s game against Palestine 57-49. Senior Clint Thurman scored four touchdowns. Senior Casey Poe saw success on the offensive line with twelve knockdowns.

Lindale defeated Canton Tuesday night at home to move one step closer to a district championship. The Lady Eagles won in 4 sets 24-26, 25-23, 25-19, and 25-14. 

Leading the attack were Maddox Lay with 19 kills, Addison Ridge 13 kills, and Kayli Vickery 10 kills. Addison Ridge had 19 digs defensively, Reagan Hope recorded 18 digs, Macy Luster added 9 digs, and Tatum Woodard and Callie Schmidt each had 6 digs apiece. Kayli Vickery had 6 blocks, Ella Hutchens 4 blocks, and Reagan Cates added 3 blocks. Setters Macy Luster and Tatum Woodard each recorded 22 assists for the Lady Eagles. Lindale is 32-8 and 10-1 in district play. The Lady Eagles finish their regular season on the road Tuesday night at Athens at 6:00pm.

Junior Varsity won in 2 sets 25-14 and 25-22. Kenlie Collins had 6 kills to lead the offensive attack. Brooke Gissell recorded 5 kills, 1 block. Keirsan Sanders added 3 kills, 1 block, 2 digs, and an ace, and Lauren Stanton put down 2 kills, 1 block, and 6 digs. Holli Dunn tallied 9 digs defensively. Clara Helvey assisted 11 times and Emory Schmidt assisted 9 times and added 2 aces. 

Freshman A Team also defeated Canton in two sets 25-11 and 25-15. Jordyn Weesner led with 6 kills. Cambry Andreason recorded 2 blocks and Jordyn Weesner, Ma’Kaylin Smith, and Tessa Dennis all added a block. Ava Grogan served tough with 6 aces.
