Law and Forensics students visit DPS Crime Lab

The workers teach the students the different types of testing evidence.

The students from the Law 2 and Forensics classes visited The Department of Public Safety Crime Lab Thursday. During their time there, they got to see how to test different types of forensic evidence.

“The Crime lab experience was absolutely amazing; it was a very fun environment to be around,” senior Madison Corriveau said. “I learned so much about forensic science and crime scenes.”

Students saw firsthand and learned how they utilize ballistics testing, DNA testing, drug testing, intoxilyzer testing, and blood alcohol content testing. The purpose was for students to see the practical application of the combination of what they are learning in forensics and in the law enforcement classes.

“The trip through the DPS gave really good insight on the inner workings of forensic science,” senior Alisa Thane said.” I enjoyed learning about a new set of careers.”
