Creative Writing Club Makes Rule Changes

Sophomore Eva Gardner draws an image of an elderly lady during the last Creative Writing Club meeting. She was instructed to draw a picture of an elderly woman trying to get home for a “show don’t tell” project.

The Creative Writing Club changed the requirement for the short story contest starting April 2. Changes were made due to a lack of participation.

“We are hoping that people will participate in the writing contests more after these changes are made,” leadership member Madison Barnes said. “I am hoping it will help them with procrastination and get rid of any difficulty being inspired.”

Students are now required to sign up to participate in the contest. If they sign up and fail to submit an entry the current fine is $2. All proceeds will be put towards the club.

“I think these changes were needed and I hope that it will encourage more participation with the contest,” Bridges said. “I believe that they are more likely to participate due to these changes.”
