Last week tennis, basketball, softball, baseball and soccer competed. This has been a winning start for the spring sports.

Lindale saw success last week after earning winning scores in softball, baseball, boys soccer and girl’s soccer. Basketball suffered hard losses this week against Cumberland, North Lamar, and Brownsboro.

Soccer has had a strong start to the season with boys currently at a win-loss of 11-6 and girls with a win-lose of 11- 2. On Tuesday the varsity Eagles won 6-1 against Mineola and won Friday against Cumberland 8-0. The Varsity Lady Eagles won Friday 7-2 against Cumberland.

The season has begun for both softball and baseball. On Friday, the Lady Eagles played on their new turf winning 7-2 against Troup. This is the second game in the season for the girls. The boys won against Whitehouse Friday with a score of 9-2.

Tennis has started the spring season strong and went to Frisco this week to play a round robin style tournament. Seven schools participated and played at around six different sites. There were no medals or placings at this tournament. In a round robin, every draw was split into groups of four and everyone in that group played one another.

“These tournaments can be really interesting,” senior Fiona Tourney said. “It was great to be able to watch and play a bunch of different schools all at once.”

Girls basketball fell to North Lamar on Tuesday at their playoff game 43-46. The boys suffered the same fate losing Tuesday against Cumberland 65-74 and Thursday against Brownsboro 41-42.
