Powerlifting Teams Qualify for Regionals

The powerlifting teams had fifteen girls and eight boys qualify for regionals. The meet will be held in Eustace on Saturday, March 4 for the girls and Arp on Friday, March 10 for the boys.

“I am very proud that I have been able to make it this far and that I am already so much stronger than I was at this point last year,” senior Christiana Ussery said. “However, I am pretty nervous about how I will perform at regionals, but I would love to make it to state.”

To qualify for regionals, the students have to rank in the top 12 spots of their weight class with squat, bench, and deadlift.

“I was able to make regionals in the first meet we had,” junior Jalin Hines said. “It’s a good thing to qualify, and I qualified last year, so I look forward to doing better this year.”
