Sports Recap Nov.28-Dec.2

Soccer tryouts were held last week for boys and girls. The first girls scrimmage will be on Friday 

“I’m most excited for our team to work hard to win,” sophomore Donovan Pennington said. “With end goal of winning state all while having fun.”

Varsity boy basketball played a game on Tuesday at home and won against Grace Community. The team competed in a tournament in Athens on Thursday and Friday playing three games where they had a win of two and a loss. Then on Saturday they played against Pittsburgh and won.

I would love to see this year be another great year for our team,” senior Will Hutchens said. “I love the relationships with our team and how much we support each other.”

Varsity girls basketball played a game on Tuesday and won at home. Then on Thursday and Friday the girls competed in the Winnsboro Hoopfest Tournament in Winnsboro. 

  I’m really excited to see where we go as a team,” junior Lydia Payne said. “We’ve been put in a pretty hard district this year, but I think we’ve got the skill and talent to make it far because of our relationships and how much fun we have as a team.”

The girls played a total of four games at the tournament where they lost two and won two games. The team had a close game with the top state ranked team with a loss of 31-33. 

“What I enjoy most about basketball is the strong bond that the team has and how uplifting everyone is,” junior Whitney Dao said. “I hope to see that as a team we will continue to build ourselves and each other better everyday.”
