New staff and teachers were welcomed to LISD by district administrators and local churches on August 15.

“We are so glad you are here,” First Methodist Church member and speaker for the Methodist Men, Ray Carden said. “We are glad to be a part of your first day at LISD schools.”

Teachers and new staff members enjoyed a buffet breakfast sponsored and served by the Methodist Men of the First Methodist Church of Lindale. School supplies, gift cards for $50 to Adventures in Learning and books by Phillip Yancey were given to the 45 new employees. Administrators introduced the new employees to the group, and Superintendent Stan Surratt welcomed them to the district.

“I am very excited about the new year,” Surratt said. “Seeing the bright faces and excitement [they have] excites me.”

Board President, Matt Watts, spoke about the unique character of Lindale and what it means to live in this community. He also encouraged the new teachers to remember the impact they have on the students.

“When they look at you, they will see your character and integrity,” Watts said. “You are teaching and shaping kids to be future adults.”

New employees later attended a welcome luncheon hosted by the First Baptist Church of Lindale. All administrators and hosts expressed their warmest wishes for a great year to all the new teachers and staff.

“We are blessed at Lindale Independent School District,” Surratt said. “We are blessed to be in Lindale, and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you better.”
