Clayton wins bronze at State

Senior Ryan Clayton won the bronze medal in Computer Applications at the UIL State Academic Meet in Austin this week.  The contest was held on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin and included the top technology students from across the state.

“I could not be more proud of Ryan,” Amanda English, Ryan’s coach, said.   “Ryan is naturally skilled in computer applications, but he also worked hard and practiced.  I was excited to see his talent and hard work pay off with a bronze medal. ”
The computer applications event is an advanced technology-based competition in which students complete complicated applications using spreadsheets and databases.

“Computer Applications is extremely difficult,” English said.  “In thirty minutes he has to use some of the most advanced features in Excel and Access to produce complex printouts.”

Ryan was “super happy and excited” when they called his name for 3rd place and he enjoyed his time at the meet.

“I like hanging out with people,” Ryan said.  “I like competing against other schools and testing my own skills.”
