Taylor Swift deserves her reputation and recognition.

Hard working woman: Taylor Swift is undeniably one of the hardest workers in the music industry, past and present. She has written and recorded 10 albums and is releasing a new one in April, re-recorded three albums, been on tour six times in the past 10 years,  and has been in a minimum of 17 movies. To this day, she has created the most number 1 hits in history, has been nominated for song of the year more than any other current female artist, and is the first person ever to have four different albums on the chart at once.

None of her controversies were ever that drastic: Ever since Taylor first rose to fame, it has become apparent that controversy and trouble have always followed close behind her. It seems that she has always faced constant harassment over things that are somewhat far fetched. In her teenage years she was known for dating older men and as she got older the belittling only continued. As an adult Taylor has been publicly shamed for pursuing relationships, gaining weight, partying, etc. All being things that girls experience as they grow up and mature into their emotions and bodies. Although it seems that she is always on someone’s bad side, Taylor never fails to apologize for what is accused or to end any rumors. Taylor Swift has never been honestly accused of something harmful. It seems that most of these controversies are just people responding to her fame in a hateful way.

Her songs relate to all areas of life: Although Taylor is mostly known for  her breakup songs, she has written and provided her fans with songs covering all kinds of struggles and happy moments. These include: growing up, depression, feminism, family, friends, karma, homophobia, and much more. She produces music that describes what she is going through or struggling with in life in hopes that people out there can relate to her in those ways. I can admit that most of Taylor’s most popular songs are aimed at the loss of a partner, but if you were making good money off of writing about one subject, wouldn’t you keep producing songs like that? Not only does she produce a wide variety of songs, she also covers a multitude of musical genres. From country, to pop and contemporary, she truly has it all.

Taylor is a role model: As previously stated, Taylor Swift is one of the most highly awarded and influential people to date. Girls of all ages can look at Taylor and see a girl who came from a small town and grew to be one of the world’s biggest stars. She holds her head high despite everyone constantly being concerned with her business, and she continues to write and produce more for her fans. Taylor is known for giving back to the community and to those in need, and that is the kind of person anybody would want to look up to. You can hate on someone all day for dating around and playing the field, but who they are as a person and how they present themselves to the public will always be a more superior matter.

Giving back: As stated above, Taylor has always been known for providing generous donations and support to those who need it most. Recently she has been noticed for her generosity and support to the food banks in the cities her tour has visited. To add on her empathy for others shines through her support of friends, cancer patients, sexual assault survivors, and disaster relief organizations. These groups have also received generous donations from Taylor throughout her time as an artist, and have greatly benefited from them.

Her Tour has altered concert history: If you talk to anyone who has attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, they will probably tell you it was life changing (I am one of those people). When someone compliments her concert it’s not just because they’re a super fan, it’s because the experience is truly unique. There is not a single thing to be said against the stage production of her tour. The sets, lights, backgrounds, and even pyrotechnics never cease to amaze the audience. Many artists have said that they look up to Taylor for her ability to perform for three hours straight and have the set as active as her the whole time. Taylor’s sets and stage activity have shaped a new generation of concerts to come.

Brings People Together: One of Taylor Swift’s most popular songs is called, You’re On Your Own Kid and is about growing up and taking on the world, essentially on your own. In this song Taylor says, “Make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it. You’ve got on reason to be afraid,” essentially beginning the craze of bringing these bracelets to concerts to trade with other fans. This simple idea of making a bracelet with a song lyric or song name on it has resulted in the blossoming of new friendships and the unification of a group of people who all love the same thing. Taylor’s concerts are meant to bring people together. I’ve heard countless stories of people meeting new friends, getting engaged, and growing closer to the friends or family they brought with them to the show. These bracelets have been the lifeline of so much love and support in a group of people who are all attracted to the same thing.

Benefited the NFL: Despite all the backlash Taylor has received for going to NFL games and “taking attention away from the players,” her attendance has brought the NFL so many benefits. Game views have skyrocketed from fans having the off chance of seeing Taylor cheering on Travis Kelce, a football player for the Chiefs, in the stands. Not only views, Taylor has brought in more fans to the games, in return only making the NFL more money.  Front Office Sports reported that Taylor alone generated more than $330 million for the NFL and Chiefs. So you can be upset that the camera cuts to Taylor three times a game, or you can be happy that the sports center and team you love so much has only prospered from this. Just to put it in perspective,  Taylor was on screen for a mere 54 seconds last game. This only makes up .36% of the entire game.

Taylor does not waste: It has recently been said that Taylor’s carbon emissions are at an outrageous level and that she should be put down for them. But, Taylor did not even make the top ten list of celebrities who are known for their Carbon Emissions. According to Carbontracker.myclimate.org, Elon Musk, Kim Kardashian, and Travis Scott currently hold the top three spaces. Yes, Taylor has a private jet that she uses to reach the many destinations of her concert, but so does any other celebrity. The three celebrities listed before hold the same top three spaces for celebrities who took the most flights in private jets this past year also. Taylor has become the poster girl for carbon emissions, yet no one speaks about the people who are actually leading the list of calculated emissions. You can’t always believe what activists on twitter or TikTok say.

Impacting the Music Industry: Taylor Swift advocacy for artists’ rights and control over each artist’s own work has influenced the industry. Her battles with record labels, which has been seen through re-recording her early albums, have inspired other artists to assert themselves to control their own music. Taylor has fought tooth and nail for the right to own HER OWN music. Seeing a woman fight this hard against a man is an inspiration to other artists who have had similar struggles.
