Volleyball Begins Round Two of District

Last night, the Lindale Lady Eagles took on the Corsicana Tigers at home, which began the second round of district play.  We celebrated Senior Night and four incredible young women: our manager Ataly Aranjon, defensive specialist Mackenzie Martin, libero Alisha Kiser, and outside hitter Lorin Reue. These ladies have been a blessing to the volleyball program and have made an impact with their hard work and dedication to the program.  They will be greatly missed next season.
The Freshmen and JV teams both won, with Freshmen scores of 25-19 and 25-10 and JV scores of 25-16 and 25-9.
The Varsity team lost a heart-breaker in five sets with scores of 21-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-18, and 13-15.  It was a tough fought match by both teams with relentless effort to win.  Leading the Lady Eagles at the net was Brina Kuslak (12 kills, 2 blocks) and Shelbi Steen (12 kills, 2 blocks, 12 digs).  Setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce handled the ball well with Thurman putting up 20 assists and 11 digs and Pierce adding 13 assists and 12 digs to the match totals.  Libero Alisha Kiser played solid defense with 37 total digs on the night.
The Lady Eagles are on the road for the next two matches.  They travel to Nacogdoches on Friday and then to Jacksonville next Tuesday.
