Lady Eagles take third in Longview tourney

Over the weekend, the Lady Eagles took third place in the Longview Volleyball Tournament. They finished with a record of 4-1, only dropping one match to Pine Tree in the semi-finals on Saturday. On Thursday, they took first in pool play, defeating district opponent Nacogdoches 25-9, 25-18 and then taking down a tough White Oak team 25-16, 25-11.

On Saturday, the Lady Eagles began their morning in bracket play by playing Spring Hill and won 25-23 and 25-20. Next up was Pine Tree, who they played and lost to on Monday night. Lindale still came up short but competed much better, only losing 25-27 and 22-25. This put the Lady Eagles in line to play Longview for the third place match, who they also played and lost to earlier in the week. This time around, however, Lindale was victorious this time around and defeated Longview in three sets, 17-25, 25-17, and 25-23. Senior libero Alisha Kiser and junior middle blocker Brina Kuslak were named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the match.

Some stats and highlights from the entire tournament:
Brina Kuslak, junior middle blocker, finished the weekend with 27 kills (13 alone in the Longview match) and 8 blocks.
Alisha Kiser, senior libero, ended with 78 digs and 13 assists.
Hannah Knox, junior outside hitter, finished with 19 kills, 1 block, and 4 digs.
Harleigh Thurman, sophomore setter, put up 67 assists, 15 digs, and 2 aces.
Kalaya Pierce, freshman setter, chipped in 46 assists, 12 digs, and 3 aces.
Lorin Reue, senior outside hitter, had 20 kills, 2 blocks, and 10 digs.

The Lady Eagles take the court again Tuesday night at All Saints and will be competing in the Berkner Tournament this weekend.
