Baseball and Softball Teams Make Playoffs

The varsity baseball team became bi-district champs after winning in the first round of playoffs against Paris. They will proceed to the Area round against Nevada Community, and will play in Forney on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The players this year came into the season hungry and eager to win,” baseball coach Richard Sanguinetti. “They enjoy the game of baseball and specifically the work that it takes to be good. Our guys battled through adversity and swept rival Van to win the district title.”

Last Thursday, the team played Paris and won 6-3. The next day, they won 13-2, securing their spot in the second round of playoffs.

“It has been really exciting to see our team do well this year,” sophomore Caleb Hart said. “We are all good friends which makes games and practices that much more fun.”

The varsity softball team ended fourth in their district, securing a spot in the first round of playoffs. The team lost the first round against Chapel Hill.

I am proud of the way our girls stay positive through the difficult times,” softball coach Merideth Grant said. “And I am hopeful we are able to use this season to fuel us toward a more successful season in 2024.”
