National signing day

National Signing Day, usually the first Wednesday of February, is the first day that a high school senior can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for college football with a school that is a member of the United States National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Four students signed letters of intent to play sports for the college of their choice on February 5th. These students include seniors Claudia Charles, Justin Young, Sydnee Tiiman, and T.J. Griffin.

“It’s my dream come true,” Young said. “It’s one of the things I have dreamed about since I was a little kid playing football in the back yard. I’m looking forward to game day Saturdays.”

Along with Justin, T.J. is also attending Texas A&M Commerce to play football. Claudia is to attend Southern Arkansas and participate in Cross Country and Track. Sydnee signed with TJC to play soccer.

“I fell in love with the sport and the team when I went and toured the campus,” Charles said. “I attribute my success in the sport a lot to my family, and a lot to my mom and my dad. They do a lot for me.”
