Senior Christian Pettway has signed to play football at University of North Texas in the fall.
“I decided to go to UNT because I felt like it was the best place for me and my family,” Pettway said. “It was also one of my biggest offers, compared to the other ones I got.”
He played on the varsity football team this school year. He received offers from Stephen F. Austin University, Lamar University and a few junior colleges. Pettway plays right tackle.
“I feel blessed to be a part of a new family,” Pettway said. “It feels wonderful to be part of a great place.”
Pettway will begin his season with the University of North Texas after he graduates in May. On signing day, he was accompanied by many friends, teammates, and family members supporting him.
“My parents would definitely be my biggest supporters,” Pettway said. “I’d say specifically my dad, since he took [football] to college and almost made it to the NFL.”
Pettway has played for head football coach Chris Cochran for the past few years.
“I’m just very proud of Christian and the young man he is,” football coach Chris Cochran said. “He’s got a bright future ahead of him as a young man and also as a football player.”
