Lady Eagle volleyball begins playoffs on Monday against Paris. They finished 33-8 in the season and 11-1 in district and are the district champs.
“I feel confident going into playoffs,” head coach Jessica Dimsdle said. “The girls have worked hard to put ourselves in a better position than we have been the last two years.”
The team’s last district game was Tuesday at Athens with a win in three sets.
“I’m super excited to go into playoffs this year,” junior Aspen Ives said. “Our team has big goals in mind and I can’t wait to see us accomplish them.”
Last year, the team was third in district and lost in the first round in five sets.
“Our goal for the season is regional quarterfinals,” Dimsdle said. “We will have to play very well to get there but we have the skill and mental toughness to do so.”
There are currently 15 players on the varsity with eight seniors, four juniors, two sophomores, and one freshman. Junior Addison Ridge also earned 1,000 digs this season.
“I feel very confident and excited to see how we do and how far we will go,” senior Maddox Lay said. “I feel like this year we could make it all the way to state.”
The team’s toughest competitors are Paris and Caddos Mills. The teams both feature highly ranked players.
“Our girls are the true definition of team,” Dimsdle said. “We have a well-rounded team with a lot of big hitters, good setters and great defenders that get it all going.”
