Lindale won the District Championship in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions at the District 16 4A Tennis tournament April 12-13. Seven players from Lindale are advancing to the regional tournament in Longview April 26-27.
“Super proud of this group, just so glad that we were able to have this season,” head tennis Coach Randal Namanny. “Looking forward to making a trip to College Station for the state tournament.”
In the district tournament, Andre Samaraweera and Hayden Harry placed first in boys doubles, and Hunter Graham and Chance Bundy placed sixth. In girls doubles Jacey King and Taegan Michel placed first, and Hope Nelms and Emily Huber placed sixth. In boys singles Jared Maeker placed first and Emilio Rodriguez placed second, and in girls singles Bailee Lane placed second and Taylor Crawford placed fifth. In mixed doubles Abbey Van Andel and Taegan Terry placed third and Brooklyn Gilleland and Soren Pertersen placed fifth.
“[I am] super proud of them continuing the winning tradition and the success of Lindale High School,” Namanny said.
Advancing to Regionals in boys doubles are Samaraweera and Harry, advancing in girls doubles are King and Michel, and in boys singles are Maeker, Rodriguez, and Lane.
“[My expectations for the remainder of the season are] really just for everyone to compete well at regionals,” Namanny said. “Once we get to that level every team is competitive so I just want to see every player compete and play well.”
