Lady Eagles Varsity Volleyball on 17-0 Streak

The Lady Eagle varsity volleyball team has recently gained a win streak of 17-0. Their next game will be Sep. 25 against the Kilgore Lady Bulldogs.

“Every player has stepped up to make this happen,” coach Meredith Grant said. “The varsity returners are playing at a level higher than last year and the newcomers have raised their level of play greatly.  They have all stayed focused on the goal and have had a lot of fun working to make it a reality.”

A highlight player of the season has shown to be senior Shelbi Steen. In their most recent game against Spring Hill, she posted 12 kills, 3 aces, 2 digs, and a block.

“During a game, my mind is focused on winning point by point,” Steen said. “All of my other worries disappear, and I get lost in the game. I am feeling hopeful for the rest of the season and excited for what the future holds.”

Other notable players are senior Skylar Wylie with 7 kills and 4 blocks, senior Elizabeth Hutchens with  5 kills, 2 blocks, and a dig, and junior Alondra Romero with 6 kills, 14 digs, and 1 ace.

“The girls have done a great job this season,” Coach Grant said. “We work to get better in every practice and every game. The girls push each other to do their best everyday.”
