Senior Signs to Play College Football

Senior Connor Boyette signed Tuesday to be a preferred walk-on for football for the Lamar University Cardinals. The college is an NCAA Division I school located in Beaumont, Texas.

“I’m really excited about Connor Boyette,” head coach Chris Cochran said. “He’s been a really special young man for the program, and we’ve really taken steps in the right direction with him. I’m really excited about him getting to a great place like Lamar to go play Division I football. He’s very deserving of it.”

Boyette was an almost unanimous selection to the All-District 1st team this season, and he plays wide receiver. As a preferred walk-on, the head coach wanted to recruit him, but did not have the funds to offer him a scholarship.

“It feels good to have found my home for the next four years,” Boyette said.
