The boys soccer team will host an alumni game December 20 at 6 p.m. The game will be held at Eagle Stadium.

“[I] love hosting this game every year,” head coach Jason Lawless said. “[For] some of these players it’s the only time I see them.”

The game will be divided into three 30 minute periods. The first two will feature the varsity team against the alumni, and the final period will be alumni against other alumni.

“The tougher the game will make the season feel easier,” junior Diego Vela said. “The alumni game really connects the team as a whole to defeat older guys and motivates us to do better for the upcoming season.”

There are usually about 30 alumni that return to play at these games. The alumni game gives the current varsity team an opportunity to grow by playing against more experienced athletes.

“Alumni games are usually our hardest game of the year because many of them play [in] college or used to,” Lawless said. “[My favorite part is] just watching my ex-players come back and play together again because they like to show they still can play.”
