Volleyball Wins Against Sulphur Springs

Tuesday night the Lindale Lady Eagles took on the Lady Cats from Sulphur Springs in another district match up. Lindale won 2 of the 3 matches between Freshmen, JV, and Varsity.  The Freshmen A team lost a tough 3 set match to Sulphur with scores of 13-25, 25-21, and 21-25.  Standouts for the Freshmen were Ellie Watkins (offense) and Kenleigh Aguirre (defense). The JV team won a tough 3 set match with scores of 25-19, 20-25, and 25-23.  Standouts for the JV were Alondra Romero (offense) and Cheylynn Palmer (setting).

The Varsity Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Cats in four thrilling sets and improved their district record to 2-0.  Scores were 25-18, 24-26, 25-14, and 25-22.  Leading Lindale at the net was Shelbi Steen (12 kills, 1 block, 21 digs) and Hannah Knox (12 kills, 1 block, 8 digs).  Middle blockers Brina Kuslak and Skylar Wyllie dominated the net; Wyllie had 5 blocks and 6 kills, and Kuslak followed with 4 blocks and 9 kills. Libero Jennifer Moyer set a personal record for digs in a match with 27 total digs in the four set battle. Setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce moved the ball around well, keeping Sulphur Springs on their toes. Thurman had 24 total assists and 8 digs, and Pierce had 16 assists and 2 aces.

The Lady Eagles take the court again at home on Friday before Homecoming against Royse City.  Varsity will begin at 5:00 with Freshmen and JV following around 6:30.
