Volleyball Takes on Van

On Friday night, the Lady Eagles traveled out west to take on the Lady Vandals in Van. The Freshmen A team won in three sets with scores of 25-19, 21-25, and 25-18. Kenleigh Aguirre’s defense and Maggie Spearman’s play at the net greatly helped their team. The JV team lost a tough match in three sets to Van’s JV.  Scores were 25-21, 18-25, and 17-25.  Alondra Romero was a key player for the JV with her consistency.

The Varsity got things started on Friday evening by defeating the Lady Vandals in four sets.  Scores were 25-11, 19-25, 25-14, 25-11.  Leading the Lady Eagles at the net were Shelbi Steen (14 kills, 1 block), London Reue (9 kills, 2 blocks), and Brina Kuslak (8 kills, 2 blocks).  Leading the Lady Eagles in blocking was middle blocker Skylar Wyllie (3 blocks).  Setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce spread the ball around very well in the four set battle.  Thurman had 25 assists and 10 digs, and Pierce had 11 assists and 6 digs.  Libero Jennifer Moyer led the team defensively with 15 digs and 4 assists.

The Lady Eagles begin district play on Friday, September 21 on the road in Mount Pleasant.
