Drill team director Keri Pierce took senior captain Cassie Bennett to the Texas Dance Educators Association Conference in the Woodlands. This is the sixth annual trip where Pierce has taken a dancer to the convention.
“Each year I select one dancer to represent Lindale as an all-state dancer,” Pierce said. “It is not always the captain we take. If the captain doesn’t plan to dance at the collegiate level, then I would choose someone else.”
Bennett will go to take master classes and learn a dance performance for the directors. She will learn leadership skills and attempt to become a better dancer.
“I am most excited about the dance we learn and perform for all of the directors,” Bennett said. “I am also pretty excited for the collegiate performances I get to watch.”
At the convention, there were dancers from around the state who came to learn. Bennett had the privilege of doing several routines and one big group dance inspired by Hurricane Harvey.
“It was amazing getting to dance with so many different dancers,” Bennett said. “I learned many new skills and gained experience working with different instructors.”
