Culinary students compete in Houston

On February 25, five culinary arts students : Guiyermina Rodriguez, Jake Phillips, Hannah Reneau, Kaybria McMiller and Andrea David attended the regional ProStart Restaurant Management Competition in Houston, Texas along with their teacher, Summer French.

I learned a lot. I think that my students did too,” French said,” We learned what the competition is all about, which important since no one from our school had ever been before.”

The students toured the College of Hospitality at the University of Houston, as well as the Culinary Institute LeNôtre.

The students learned that you can’t prepare too much,” French said. “Sadly we didn’t win anything this year.

The group competed in the Prostart management culinary competition and placed 10th out of 13 groups.

“The experience was amazing,” Guiyermina Rodriguez said. “We had so much fun as a team and we learned so much. Sadly we did not win anything, but we did get 10th out of 13 teams and a chance to meet new people and get a great experience.”
