The agricultural issues team and junior creed speaker Jacqueline Rand competed at the FFA state competition Friday and Saturday at Sam Houston University. Students competed in the semifinals and qualified for the finals.
“FFA has really become a true passion of mine ever since I became president,” Rand said. “Traveling to competitions and practicing every week has truly brought all of us together. I have loved competing with everyone this year and I am so proud of how everybody did at state.”
Rand progressed past the semifinals on Friday and placed 8th in finals for her creed speaking.
“I worked really hard all year for this competition and I was so happy that I placed so well,” Rand said. “I’m just hoping that next year I do even better.”
Freshmen Caleb Riches and Rylee Ford, sophomores Jaxson Buttram and Jaclyn Brandon, junior Gracie Day, and senior Lexi Keels were members of the agricultural issues team. The team was a state-semifinalist and was top 10 in their heat.
“This is my first year in FFA and I’m really happy with how we did,” Ford said. “I made a lot of new friends and I can’t wait for next year.”
