Coronation to raise money for Prom

Coronation will be March 1 in the Performing Arts Center. The event is a fundraiser put on by juniors to raise money for Prom.

“Coronation is a very important part of high school,” sponsor Keri Pierce said. “In addition to being a fund raiser, I love the fact that it is a long standing tradition in Lindale.  It is the one time that a representative from every club, sport and organization in the high school comes together.”

Pierce has been Coronation sponsor for two years. Her responsibilities include coordinating the show, ordering decorations, props and costumes, getting volunteers and more.

“I think it is an honor to be a part of this tradition,” Pierce said. “The duchesses learn grace and poise, the escorts learn the importance of their role, and the volunteers get to be a part of putting on the show.”

There are 40 duchesses, including four class duchesses, and four queen nominees.

“I’ve never been nominated or voted to be something before,” said queen nominee Hannah Hays “I’m very excited. It’s an honor to be able to walk the stage.”
