On Friday, the Lindale Lady Eagles competed in their final district match of the season against Whitehouse. The Freshmen lost, making them second in district for the Freshmen division. Scores were 21-25 and 19-25. The JV won, making them Co-District Champions with Whitehouse for the JV division. Scores were 25-9 and 29-19.
In a five set, two and a half hour long battle that determined who would be district champions, Lindale prevailed victorious and unanimously clinched the District 17 5A Championship with scores of 27-25, 25-21, 20-25, 22-25, and 15-13. Leading the Lady Eagles at the net was Brina Kuslak (13 kills, 4 blocks), Shelbi Steen (10 kills, 1 block, 6 digs), and Lorin Reue (9 kills, 1 block). Harleigh Thurman led the offensive effort with 25 assists, 8 digs, and 2 aces on the night. Kalaya Pierce added 9 assists and 7 digs as well. In the backrow, libero Alisha Kiser was fiercly consistent with 24 digs during the 5 set battle. Defensive specialist Jennifer Moyer chipped in 11 digs. Between her and Kiser, a ball hardly hit the floor without full, relentless effort.
Lindale will play their first round of playoffs in the Bi-district Championship against Temple on Tuesday October 31st at 6:00 p.m. in Palestine. Keep an eye out for more information to come out soon!
Additional Note: There will be a spirit bus that will provide transportation to and from the game in Palestine. Students can sign up for a spot in the office.
