FCCLA raises money for nationals

The FCCLA team competed at the Regionals Conference and Competition in Waco earlier this spring and all advanced to state. The three girls competing in Occupational Specific Interior Design placed 2nd out of five groups and advanced to Nationals.  FCCLA needs a total of about $5,000 in order to go to Nationals. They have raised about $1,000 right now and their deadline is Monday May 2.

Lindale’s Family Career and Community Leaders of America or FCCLA are working very hard to have the opportunity to compete at Nationals in San Diego California in July.

“We have 3 girls that have advanced to Nationals,” career and technology teacher Tonya Wheat said. “Catia Bell, Ella Cox and Riya Desai. Only two of those girls are going with me to Nationals. We are embroidering & monogramming pillow cases. They are $20 a piece and that includes a pillowcase and a monogram of your choice. There is a boy font and there is a vine font that you can choose from. We also have stickers that go on yeti cups or any other cup and those are $5 a piece.”

“I competed in Interior Design and advanced to Nationals,” sophomore Riya Desai said. “It feels pretty good, I’m excited because it was my first year doing this and it was something new to do.”

If you want to order a pillowcase or sticker to help support FCCLA you can contact Mrs. Wheat at [email protected]
