The student body crowned senior Taeler Schilling coronation queen on Saturday at the coronation ceremony in the Performing Arts Center. Schilling was selected from three other nominees, seniors Madeline Gasser, Sarah Christian and Reagan Hope.
“This year was a lot of fun with the circus theme and the kids did an amazing job,” coronation coordinator Keri Pierce said. “We have dancers every year in coronation and that is near and dear to my heart not only because of my love for dance, but the fact that I danced in coronation in high school and have choreographed for this show for years even before I became the director.”
Schilling was escorted by senior Kyle Sump to the circus themed coronation ceremony.
“When I was young I watched the girls at coronation in pretty dresses and the girls sitting on stage pretty with crowns,” Schilling said. “I know when I was a little girl it was so cool to me, so I hope to be that young woman for little girls in the audience.”
Schilling is a drill team officer, a senior dance competitor at Keri’s Dance Factory and a part of the Texas Bank and Trust student board. She has been attending Lindale Independent School District since her third grade year.
“I didn’t expect so many people to be happy for me and congratulate me,” Schilling said. “It felt amazing and it was a great night.”
After high school she plans to attend nursing school at Trinity Valley Community College to become a registered nurse. She has already signed to become a dancer on the 65th line of the Cardettes, TVCC’s collegiate dance team.
“I think I was picked as a nominee because I’m involved in different organizations,” Schilling said. “Being involved in these organizations has definitely exposed me to new friends and relationships.”
