LISD Band Director Elected President of the Texas Bandmasters Association

Lindale ISD Director of Bands Steven Moore was honored last month after being selected as the new 2015-2016 President of the Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA).

The Texas Bandmasters Association Board of Directors is comprised of professional band directors and administrators from across the state of Texas. Moore has served on the TBA board of directors since early 2010.

Moore has been in Lindale for over 25 years today and was initially hired by former LHS band director Butch Almany as the Lindale Jr. High and High School band assistant right out of college.

After three years, he was soon promoted to the position of Junior High Band Director. When Almany retired, Moore was promoted to the Director of Bands position at LISD and has held that position for 19 years.

This past school year Moore led the LHS band affectionately known as “The Pride of Lindale,” to the UIL Marching Contest, where the band earned its 40th consecutive 1st division rating.

“I am honored to have been elected as President of the Texas Bandmasters Association,” Moore said. “TBA has been an important part of my career over the last 25 years, and I look forward to serving the band directors and band students of Texas this coming year.”
