Debaters compete at St. Mark’s Novice National Championship

This weekend, two Lindale debate teams (four students total) competed at the St. Mark’s School of Texas Novice National Championship.  This tournament only accepted 32 teams, but those teams consisted of STELLAR debate programs from across the country (including, California, Washington DC, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida, Louisiana, and Tennessee).  The teams debated seven rounds in their “pod”.  One team (Robert McWhorter and Konnor Scott) placed 4th in their Pod.  The other team (Ronak Desai and Anthony Wyatt) WON their pod and advanced to the semifinals.  They were the only Texas team.  They lost a close 2-1 decision in semifinals to the Montgomery Bell Academy from Tennessee (one of the most historic programs in the country).

THIS IS AWESOME! I didn’t know that this was posted on the website. Anthony and I would have been interested to see it earlier, or know it existed.
