The TJC Firefighting class received their bunker gear this week. They will be learning about and using the gear throughout the semester to prepare for future training.
“I think it’s important to learn about the safety equipment,” firefighter teacher Jeffery Akin said. “These students will use their knowledge and apply it to different scenarios.”
The bunker gear is fire protective equipment. The students will use it during lab burns which will simulate a scenario likely to occur.
“Learning about the equipment can benefit us in the future when we are properly trained,” senior Brian Tapia said. “These small details really will matter.”
