Sports Recap 1/8-1/13

Last+week+the+girls+and+boys+basketball+and+soccer+teams+competed.+The+two+sports+had+many+wins+and+some+losses.
Last week the girls and boys basketball and soccer teams competed. The two sports had many wins and some losses.

The varsity boys soccer team won 8-0 against Mabank on Thursday and had another victory against Mabank on Friday with a score of 4-0. On Saturday they played against Oak Cliff.

“I’m proud of our team for their hard work,” junior Will Locknane said. “I hope to improve as a team and as an individual this season.”

The Lady Eagles soccer team won 6-0 against North Lamar on Tuesday and played against Chapel Hill, tying 0-0. The girls competed in two games on Friday against Palestine scoring 0-0 and 1-0 against Henderson. On Saturday they had a final victory of 2-1 against Nacogdoches.

“I love competing with the team,” junior Jacqueline Ramirez said. “I’m glad we get to have fun as a team while improving to get better.”

The JV girls soccer team played in the Pine Tree Tournament in Longview. The team won 4-0 against Pine Tree and won 2-0 against Tyler Legacy. The team tied 0-0 with Tyler Legacy.

“I think we did great as a team,” sophomore Chloe Pitts said. “The teams we compete against will help us grow to get better.”

The varsity boys basketball team played against Mabank on Tuesday and lost 67-39. The team competed against Athens and lost 44-55. The JV basketball boys also competed against Athens and won a close game with a score of 33-32

“I’m excited to play more games as we improve throughout the season,” junior Reed Thrasher-Evers said. “We plan to work harder through each game.”

The Lady Eagles basketball team competed against Mabank on Tuesday and lost 37-31. The team played against Athens and won 41-27. The JV basketball girls also competed against Mabank with a victory of 39-33 and won 61-4 against Athens. 

“Our team puts all our effort out into the court,” senior Lydia Payne said. “I’m excited for my final season and cannot wait to improve.”
