National Recognition Given to Student Volunteers

116 LHS students are being honored by the 5th Annual National Community Service Awards for inspiring others to get involved in the area. Awards were given to students who volunteered and raised money for the school and community.

“Our students have been amazing this year and completed many hours of service work,” NHS sponsor Sally Clemmons said. “What a great representation of LHS and a benefit to our community and school.”

Students that are involved in the NHS organization submit their volunteer hours through an app called Innerview. All they have to do is submit a selfie with how many hours they served and their hours are counted.

“I am very proud of the service awards and cannot wait to get our final numbers in,” Clemmons said. “Hopefully this will inspire students to continue to serve those around them throughout their life.”

This year, Lindale is being honored for their UN global impact. Students dedicated 586 hours towards no poverty, 528 hours towards zero hunger, 758 hours towards good health and well-being, 881 hours towards quality education, 78 hours towards reduced inequalities, 753 hours towards sustainable cities and communities, 88 hours towards life on land, and 98 hours towards peace, justice and strong institutions.

“Innerview has been a super helpful resource for us NHS kids this year,” senior NHS Vice President Taylor Ragland said. “It makes confirming service hours so much easier and it is just a super helpful app.”
