Sports Recap Sept. 27- Oct. 1

Varsity football played against Chapel Hill and won with a score of  36-14 on Friday.

Sophomore Patrick Daniels had 141 rushing yards within 26 carries leading to two touchdowns. Senior Sam Peterson had eight successful passes with a 12.6 yards average and one touchdown.

“I think we are doing well and are taking it step by step to improve each week,” coach Ronnie Nicks said. “We are getting to that point where kids are learning how to finish the games and that’s improving. The season is going to get better and better each time we play each Friday night.”

Varsity Volleyball played against Chapel Hill on Friday as well with scores of 25-15,  25-15, and 25-14. Brenley Philen had ten kills and 4 attacks. Maddox Lay put down 4 kills, and 3 digs. Anna Ivey had 8 attacks and 4 digs. Alondra Romero got 1 kill, 11 attacks and 14 digs. Brooke Tweedell had 10 kills, 4 attacks, and Ellie Watkins had 7 attacks and 1 dig. Keatyn Bills recorded 2 attacks, and Kennedy Weesner put down 6 attacks and 3 digs. Maddox Lay had 4 attacks and 3 digs. McKinleigh Evans recorded 1 kill, and Preslie Walters had 3 digs. Tatum Woodard put down 13 attacks and 1 dig.

“I think that we have done a way better job accomplishing the goal of adjusting to each other and the way we play,” sophomore Anna Ivy said. “When we go into games with positivity and excitement we play amazing. I am excited for the next game and can’t wait to see us keep growing.”
