Sports Recap: Sept. 24

Varsity football played against Mabank and won 30-13 on Friday.

Senior Sam Peterson had seven successful passes totalling 70 yards with an average of 10 yards per pass. Sophomore Patrick Daniels had 135 rushing yards and averaged 5.8 yards gained per carry. Sophomore Jake Curbow had three solo tackles and seven assisted tackles.

“I’m most excited about finishing my senior year of football with my teammates,” senior Jacob Seekford said. “I can’t wait to get out on the field and compete and battle every down.”

Varsity volleyball played Kilgore Friday night at home with set score of 25-8, 25-23, and 25-12. Brenley Philen put down 8 kills, 3 blocks, and had 2 digs. Maddox Lay also put down 8 kills, and added 2 blocks. Reagan Cates recorded 5 kills, 1 block, and 1 dig. Ellie Watkins had 4 kills, 4 digs, and Dylan Adams had 2 kills, 1 assist. Brooke Tweedell had 3 blocks, 4 digs, and Keatyn Bills added a kill. Tatum Woodard had 15 assists, 1 dig, 1 ace, and Anna Ivy had 11 assists, 4 digs, 1 ace. Alondra Romero recorded 5 digs and Preslie Walters had 3 digs and an ace. Their current record is 3-1 in district.

Junior Varsity beat Kilgore in three sets with scores 22-25, 25-11, and 25-11. Maddie Little put down 9 kills. Joey Forsythe recorded 6 kills, Bridget Woodrum had 5 kills. Whitney Dao had 4 blocks on the night. Lydia Payne had 23 assists.

Lindale Freshmen A Team beat Kilgore in two sets 25-15, and 25-16. Addison Frazier led with 6 kills. Maddy Fowble had 5 kills, 2 blocks, and Gabby Saboia recorded 4 kills, 2 blocks. Izzy Koonce had 8 assists, 2 kills, and Trinadee Jackson recorded 7 assists, 1 kill.

Lindale Freshmen B traveled to Tyler High School, and also came out victorious with scores of 25-9, and 25-10. Clara Helvey served 20 consecutive service points with 6 aces. Ila Varnado also had 6 aces.

“I think the team bond is much different for all of us this year from any other year, which I feel like has helped our team trust one another way more,” sophomore Anna Ivy said. “My favorite part about playing volleyball is getting to play with my best friends and the excitement you get when you win.”
