College tuition payments just became a little easier for one Lindale High School (LHS) senior. Katelyn Boone won the C.J. Davidson Scholarship through Texas Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). The four-year scholarship is valued at $18,000.
“Katelyn is very deserving of this scholarship and has invested many hours in FCCLA programs and projects,” said LHS FCCLA Sponsor Alethea Allen.
Boone filled out an application through Texas FCCLA for the scholarship. The money is awarded through an endowment set up by C.J. Davidson. The scholarship is awarded to students planning to major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
“I am very excited about this scholarship and appreciate the generosity of community leaders, such as Mr. Davidson, for believing in the principles and high standards of FCCLA and its members,” Boone said.
Through her FCCLA participation, Boone also received a Smith County Junior Livestock Show scholarship for $700. The Lindale senior plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. She will be majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
Boone will be presented with the C.J. Davidson Scholarship at the State FCCLA Leadership Conference in Corpus Christi April 10–12.
