Members of speech and debate compete at tournaments almost every weekend in a multitude of events. There are three main types: debate, speech, and interp. All use public speaking skills. Speech and debate competitors have four main tournaments they attempt to qualify for: UIL state, TFA state, the Tournament of Champions, and the National Speech and Debate Competition. Our speech and debate team is extremely competitive on both the state and national levels, and has fostered state champions and national finalists many times. Speech and Debate is taught by coaches Rory McKenzie and JP Fugler.
