State Farm honors LHS student with January award

Senior Kayla Welvaert received the State Farm Good Neighbor Award for January. The administrators and counselors at Lindale high school selected Welvaert. The award is based on the core values of Lindale High School, which are commitment to integrity, respect, honesty, responsibility, discipline, accountability, ownership and community contribution.

“I received a certificate to DOCS pizza, a plaque and a state farm bag,” senior Kayla Welvaert said. “I’m surprised that I received the award. I just do what I’m supposed to do. I didn’t know people noticed what I did.”

Welvaert will be attending SFA after high school. She plans on getting an art degree in advertising design. She hopes to stay in the Lindale area after college.

“What’s neat about this award is that it recognizes students at a high performance school that my not be at the top of everything,” State Farm Good Neighbor Award sponsor R.J. Collins said. “It’s the great kids that are doing the right things every day.”
