Volleyball Defeats Gilmer in Non-District Game

On Tuesday night the Lindale Lady Eagles hit the road for Gilmer to take on the Lady Buckeyes. Lindale headed home after sweeping Gilmer with wins at all three levels. The Freshmen A team won in two sets (25-17, 25-17). The JV team won in two sets as well (25-18, 25-22). Darby Woodrum (9th) and Alondra Romero (JV) helped their teams greatly both on offense and defense.

The Varsity Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Buckeyes in four sets. Scores were 25-22, 17-25, 25-16, 25-17. Leading Lindale at the net was sophomore middle blocker Skylar Wyllie (13 kills, 3 blocks), and Shelbi Steen was a close second with 11 kills and 2 blocks. Brina Kuslak and Hannah Knox each chipped in 7 kills a piece. Setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce both played incredible defense with 10 digs each. Thurman had 21 assists, and Pierce had 15 assists in the 4 set victory. Libero Jen Moyer had 18 digs, leading the defense for Lindale.

Over the weekend while varsity competed in Allen, the Freshmen A team took 3rd place in the Quitman tournament. They started off with a two set win over All Saints (25-16, 25-10) and then lost to Bullard in three sets (8-25, 25-19, 18-25). They beat Quitman to clench third place (25-15, 25-23).

We are so proud of the hard work all of our girls are putting in on the court! Varsity will be playing in the Tyler tournament over the weekend on Friday and Saturday, and then Lindale will host a dual match at home on Tuesday August 28 against Carthage and Quitman.
