Seniors Ty McDaniel and David Bledsoe competed at the state powerlifting meet March 24. McDaniel earned ninth in his weight class and Bledsoe won eleventh in his weight class.
“I have been working to compete at the state level for so long,” McDaniel said. “I am so proud of myself and David for earning this opportunity to represent our school at state.”
McDaniel left the competition with a 650 pound squat, 330 pound bench press and a 590 pound deadlift. He lifted a total of 1570 pounds to earn his rank at state.
“Competing at state was an experience I will never forget,” McDaniel said. “Being there knowing that this is the best of the best made me feel accomplished.”
Bledsoe earned a 540 pound squat, 280 pound bench press and a 550 pound deadlift. He lifted a total of 1370 pounds to earn his place. After attending the state meet twice, Bledsoe received an offer from Midland University to continue his powerlifting career at the collegiate level.
