Girls varsity basketball went to the playoffs on Tuesday against Sulphur Springs and suffered their second loss to the team by six points in overtime.
“My intent here is to grow these girls’ basketball game and see them succeed,” Coach McMahon said. “We’ve played them before, but we’re a completely different team now.”
The final score was Sulphur Springs-58, Lindale-52. Before their loss in the playoff game, the girls went 18-18 in overall games, while going 6-6 in district.
“This year there is a whole lot more energy, senior Hannah Saunders said. “I think there’s good team unity, we’re having lots of fun and our drive has increased with our new coach. Coach Mac should be really glad we’re going to playoffs his first year, and it’s been a really good experience for me.”
This is the first year for McMahon at Lindale, but he coached at Whitehouse for eight years. The regular season team consisted of two seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and two freshman.
“We always want to get better and show that in practice,” sophomore Taylor Webb said. “I’m just really excited to be with this team and to go to playoffs for more games.”
