Students to Perform at Talent Show

Students from all grades will perform at Act 14 talent show on January 25 at 6 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. VIP tickets, reserved for the first 5 rows, sell for $15, while normal tickets sell for $8 as well as handicap seating. 

“I think the talent show helps to raise money that gives back in thousands to our classroom teachers while giving our students a place to show off their talent,” theater director Kari McKenzie said.

There were two finalist, junior Hailey Maccalous who placed 3rd in informative speaking, and sophomore Conner Stevens who placed 9th in Congressional debate, and 3 semifinalists, juniors Madison Barnes, Odin Burks, and senior Flor Mendez.

"I chose to participate in the Empty Bowls event because I wanted to use my skills to give back to our community," Stanford said. "I enjoy being able to help others and this seemed like a great way to do so."

Madison is a junior and the Managing Editor of News and Features of the Eagle Eye Newspaper. She enjoys reading and writing as her main hobbies, as well as listening to music. She also participates in speech and debate, where her main events are Lincoln-Douglas debate and extemp. She has gone to state 2 times in extemp and once in Lincoln-Douglas. Madison is a secretary in the Creative Writing club and helps with writing contests. She also participates in theater as a stage hand. She hopes to attend SMU to study law, creative writing, and political science.
