Tyler Junior College will host a University Interscholastic League conference on September 7 at the TJC campus. The conference aims to introduce students as well as sponsors to UIL academics.
“This is for students who are interested in UIL, but they don’t necessarily know what it is, this is a good opportunity,” Academic Coordinator Rory McKenzie said. “Even if students don’t exactly know the ins and outs of the test this is a good way for them to learn.”
The event features a number of UIL academic events such as maths, science, spelling, speech, debate, theatrical design, and one act play. Students can sign up for the event by contacting their UIL event sponsor or McKenzie at [email protected].
“This is just a good way for students and sponsors to get some instruction from the best of the state,” McKenzie said. “Some of the state contest directors are the ones leading the sessions at the conference.”
