On Tuesday, senior Kye Wedemeyer signed to be on the rodeo team at Texas A&M University. He plans to study in the agricultural field when he attends in the fall.
“I feel really blessed, and I’m thankful that I get this great opportunity,” Wedemeyer said. “I’m going to miss the people I’ve grown to know for a long time, but I feel like it’s a new chapter in my life, and I’ll meet more good people like I have in Lindale.”
Wedemeyer was accompanied by many of his friends, family, and teachers. Many of them gave him kind words of encouragement. Some of these included principal Jeremy Chilek and welding teacher Gilbert Watson.
“Even though I’ve known Kye for just a couple of years, he’s an amazing young man with an awesome future ahead of him,” Watson said. “I really hope that he goes out, does wonderful things, and makes a big difference in the world we live in.”
