“I have been the Art Club sponsor for two years,” art teacher Mowery said. “It’s a safe space where members can come together and do activities and events with other like- minded students.”
The club involves activities which focus on traditional art, digital art, animation, and photography. It’s a space where students can socialize and improve their artistic ability in a comfortable environment.
“Art Club takes field trips once a month throughout the school year,” Mowery said. “Art Club has taken trips to the Dallas Arboretum, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas
Holocaust Museum, and the Human Rights Museum.”
Students do not have to be enrolled in art class to join. It is open to all students who are looking to expand on their skills and learn new things.
“When I was a freshman, I was nervous about joining a club with a bunch of people I didn’t know, but joining Art Club ended up being such a good decision,” sophomore Laila Lindsey said. “Because everyone has a common interest in art, it was easy to form connections and friendships during the trips. This is my second year in this club, and I plan to be in it throughout all of high school.”
