The marching band will attend the UIL State Military Marching Competition on Wednesday in Waco. They will leave during the day Tuesday and compete on Wednesday at McLane Stadium. The performance time is still to be determined.
“For state, honestly I’m excited for the experience, and I’m excited for our freshmen to experience state, it’s such a unique experience,” head drum major Sarah Christian said. “I’m excited to also meet with the other drum majors from other bands, just to kind of interact and feel that community between schools.”
This year marks the 49th consecutive UIL first division rating, which qualifies them for state contest. The competition consists of a preliminary round, followed by finals afterward. If the band brings home a first place win, it will be the fourth in a row.
I like that [band] is a family,” Christian said. I feel like we’re all very included with each other, and we all support one another. I like that community.”
