Eagle volleyball, football, and tennis all ended the week of 9/25-9/29 with wins.
The Lady Eagles beat non-district opponents Neches and Athens. Addison Ridge ended the week by reaching her 1000th career dig. Eagle football beat Athens 40-7, and the tennis team clinched their 3rd consecutive district championship with a 14-5 victory over Van.
The Lady Eagles are 6-0 in district and 28-7 overall. Maddox Lay put down 9 kills to lead the Lady Eagle’s attack. Kayli Vickery contributed 7 kills and 6 blocks. Addison Ridge recorded 4 kills, 16 digs, and Alyssa Potts had 4 kills, 3 blocks. Setters Macy Luster and Tatum Woodard had 16 and 8 assists respectively. Reagan Cates tallied 22 straight service points in set 3, and 32 service points on the night. Set scores were 25-14, 25-9, and 25-1. Lindale will travel to Van Tuesday.
In football, Clint Thurman finished the night off against Athens with a total of 3 touchdowns, Wyatt Parker had 2, and Caleb Hart had 1. On the offensive line, Casey Poe and Christian Pettway led with 3 and 6 knockdowns respectively, while Jake Curbow and Aiden Warnell led the defense with 7 tackles for Curbow and 5 for Warnell.
The tennis team is currently 9-5 on the season and undefeated in 4A play and ranked #6 in the state headed into playoffs. The first round of playoffs (Bi-District) will be played on either Oct. 9 or 10.
