Teachers Earn Local and State Awards

Graphic design teacher Lindsay Kelly and journalism teacher and Eagle Eye adviser Neda Morrow recently won awards for teaching.  Kelly was named as the Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year and will be honored at a banquet in April. Morrow was named an ILPC Edith Fox King honoree and will be honored at the State Convention April 14-16 in Austin.

“Our community appreciates and values our teachers and our school system,” Kelly said. “They want to make us feel appreciated.”

Kelly is currently the girls golf coach and graphic design teacher. Her golf team has won awards at multiple invitationals and will compete at district on March 27 and 28.

“I just feel very honored and humbled to win this award,” Kelly said. “I absolutely love this town, the people in it, and especially the students I am blessed to work with every day.

Morrow received her award from the Interscholastic League Press Conference for her work in journalism. She was nominated by other journalist colleagues for her work with UIL. Morrow advises the yearbook, Eagle Eye newspaper, and the EagleVision audio visual class. Morrow also advises the UIL journalism team and has helped lead them to state and win back-to-back state championships.

“I very much appreciate this award because it was nominated by my peers,” Morrow said. “For my fellow journalism team to think of me in such a kind manner is very humbling and I very much appreciate them.”
