Boys Basketball Wins District Awards

This week, 16-4A awards were announced for the boys basketball 2022-2023 season. Five varsity players were honored with awards.

“Collectively, our young men are very selfless,” basketball coach Christopher Grotemat said. “The individual rewards they received are a reflection of their commitment to our team concept.”

Senior Ryder Johnson was awarded the first team all-district 16-4A award, and junior Cole Collinsworth was awarded district 16-4A offensive MVP. Both have played basketball for Lindale since junior high and plan on playing in college.

“The awards themselves are not nearly as significant as the hard work that these young men contributed to the team,” Grotemat said. “They put in tons of effort for months and months prior to the season.”

Senior Amare Baptiste was awarded second team all-district 16-4A. Baptiste is number 24 and a forward on the team. He commonly changes the game with a slam dunk or blocked shot.

“I am honored to be receiving this award for my senior year,” Baptiste said. “It’s been a long four years, but recognition is inspiring.”

Both senior Logan Dixon and junior Connor McClendon were awarded honorable mention all-district 16-4A. The boys both demonstrate intelligence and perseverance that help them achieve their goals on the court.

“Each of these young men have an uncommon work ethic and a willingness to work on their game,” Grotemat said. “They also contain strength and conditioning that most student-athletes do not possess.”
