Tennis’ Team Makes It to State

The tennis team had three members make it to state this year. Junior Taegan Michel and freshman Breanna Taylor went to state in girl’s doubles and sophomore Emilio Rodriguez went to state in boy’s singles.

“I”m super proud of these guys,” tennis coach Randal Namanny said. “They’ve worked their butts off and it’s amazing that they were able to compete at that level.”

Michel and Taylor  ended their season with a record of 34 wins and 5 losses. They are district champions, placed 2nd at regionals, and were state qualifiers for girls doubles.

“Competing on a state level was such a great experience for me,” Taylor said. “We worked really hard to get [to state] and our work paid off.”

Rodriguez competed in boys singles and ended his season with a record of 41 wins and 15 losses. He finished 2nd in district, 2nd in regionals, and made it to the state semifinals making him one of the top 4 players in the state. Rodriguez is the first boys singles player to make it to state since 2005.

“It was a great experience to play at the next level at state,” Rodriguez said.” It was just amazing tennis and I hope to go there again next year and maybe even do better.”
